About Us
Empowering communitiesthrough dignity & rights.
We empower sex workers to make informed decisions about their health, human rights, safety, and economic wellbeing through advocacy, legal aid, capacity building, and community support.
Through rights-based advocacy, legal assistance, health education, leadership development, and economic empowerment initiatives, we work alongside communities and partners to reduce stigma, promote inclusion, and create an environment where every sex worker can live with dignity, exercise their rights, and access opportunities for a better future.

A future where everyperson lives with dignity.
We envision a society where sex workers enjoy equal rights, access quality healthcare, live free from stigma and discrimination, and participate fully in social and economic life.
Our vision is to build inclusive communities where dignity, equality, justice, and opportunity are realities for every sex worker. We strive for a future where human rights are respected, health services are accessible, and every individual can thrive in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.
Building collective power through leadership & action.
To strengthen a feminist, community-led movement that advances the rights, safety, health, dignity, leadership, and social justice of refugee, migrant, and internally displaced sex workers through advocacy, crisis response, leadership development, and community empowerment.
By scaling structural safety and breaking down systemic blocks, we build resilient, protected environments where refugee, migrant, and internally displaced sex workers reclaim voice and collective agency over their lives.

Pioneering health, dignity, and protection at the crossroads of Busia.
Registered in the year 2000, Survivors’ Organization began as a Self-Help Group (SSG) formed by female sex workers and expanded to include men who have sex with men in Busia town and its environs. Situated along the major Mombasa–Uganda–Congo highway, Busia faced critically high HIV prevalence rates. In response, Survivors partnered with the Universities of Nairobi and Manitoba under the Implementary AIDS Control Team (IMPACT) to educate sex workers on STI/HIV prevention and reproductive health.
When research revealed widespread lack of information on HIV transmission in the border town, the organization led peer education initiatives across sex workers. Over the years, this evolved into robust community advocacy: expanding HTS services, managing continuous condom distribution, offering support groups for those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, and integrating screening and referrals for TB and Malaria.
